Baihetan Hydropower Station is the largest hydropower project under construction in the world since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. After completion, it will be second only to the Three Gorges Hydropower Station, ranking second in the world. Wudongde Hydropower Station is a huge hydropower project. On June 16, 2021, all units will be put into operation for power generation, with a total installed capacity of 10.2 million kilowatts and an annual average power generation of 38.91 billion kilowatt hours.

Xiluodu Hydropower Station is the third cascade hydropower station in the lower reaches of Jinsha River. In June 2014, all units were put into operation for power generation, with a total installed capacity of 13.86 million kilowatts and an annual average power generation of 61.62 billion kilowatt hours.

Xiangjiaba Hydropower Station is the fourth cascade hydropower station in the lower reaches of Jinsha River. In July 2014, all units were put into operation for power generation, with a total installed capacity of 6.4 million kilowatts and an annual average power generation of 30.747 billion kilowatt hours.
Three Gorges Hydropower Station

The Three Gorges Project is by far the largest water conservancy project in the world and a hydropower project with extensive comprehensive benefits. In July 2012, all units were put into operation for power generation, with a total installed capacity of 22.5 million kilowatts and an annual average power generation of 88.2 billion kilowatt hours.
Gezhouba Hydropower Station

Gezhouba Water Control Project is known as "the first dam of the Yangtze River". In December 1988, all units were put into operation for power generation, with a total installed capacity of 2.735 million kilowatts and an annual average power generation of 15.7 billion kilowatt hours.

    The cliffs on both sides face each other, and the Yangtze River flows eastward. From the upstream to the downstream, there are six large-scale hydropower stations, namely, Wudongde, Baihetan, Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba, Three Gorges and Gezhouba, or a long dam lying on the river, or an arch dam holding the mountain, with beads in a chain, cascade dispatching, water storage and energy release. The surging river turns into green power, lighting up thousands of lights and driving the roar of machines. At present, the cumulative power generation of six large-scale hydropower stations has exceeded 3 trillion kWh, which is equivalent to saving about 910 million tons of standard coal. The mainstream of the Yangtze River has become the world's largest clean energy corridor.
    The towering dam stems from unswervingly taking the road of independent innovation. During the construction of the Three Gorges Project, the design, R&D and manufacturing capacity of water turbine generator units in China has increased from 320000kW to 700000kW at one stroke. The Wudongde Dam is 270 meters high, with more than 2.7 million cubic meters of concrete poured. The dam uses low heat concrete to build the world's thinnest ultra-high arch dam. In Xiluodu Hydropower Station, 4723 concrete thermometers and 24000 meter temperature measuring optical fibers are embedded in the dam body, giving the hydropower station intelligent induction. At Baihetan Hydropower Station, the world's largest single unit capacity megawatt hydro generator set was put into operation, achieving a major breakthrough in high-end equipment manufacturing. From the initial introduction, digestion and absorption to gradually leading the way, science and technology are self reliant and forging the heavy weapons of big countries.
    Green power helps achieve the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutralization. There are 6 cascade hydropower stations, with the total installed capacity accounting for about 1/5 of the national hydropower installed capacity. With large total power generation and strong peak shaving capacity, they can effectively alleviate the power shortage in central and eastern China, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guangdong and other places, and provide strong support for the implementation of "power transmission from west to east".
